Classical Music Headphones

I am an oboist and recently finished a trial with a new orchestra which tested me to the limits in terms of playing a wide range of works by many different composers and as I had to spend hours and hours commuting to the hall for rehearsals and concerts I really needed to replace my old Beats with the best headphones for classical music that I could afford. Unfortunately I didn't have much time to read all the reviews - though my partner would disagree as I did indeed spend as much time as I possibly could either in stores or reading online. Anyway I finished up making what for me was quite a quick decision and bought the Sennheiser HD598 within a few weeks of starting my trial.

Obviously I was looking for both clarity and detail and compared to my old ones these are absolutely unrivalled. For me it was my first taste of true audiophile listening though I must say every single review on these open-backed headphones say don't expect the very best results for classical music if you're travelling as background noise will bleed. As I said I'm commuting all the time but seriously my ears can't stand in-ear buds so that just wasn't an option and I will argue that the HD598 headphones are both comfortable (imperative for me, I have some tinnitus and other ear problems) and I don't get much disturbed by the public sounds around me as I was warned.

If I'm honest I do like to look good and this isn't just on what I wear, how my hair is, but it's my headphones too - and HD598s bring just the extra style I want and certainly more sophistication compared to any other headphones I've ever had. They simply are the best for me and as I'm a classical musician I want my headphones to match in a classical sort of way! So they do!
